With a name like drivel, I didn’t expect much. Prior to installation I was impressed by the screenshots and documentation and this tutorial in particular was very well done and inspired me to install. Although I don’t much care for the gnome interface, I went for it.
Sudo apt-get install drivel
Complaints
- Program designers need to consider the possibility that users may have modified their start menus. If so, provide for alternate placement.
- Drivel would not connect to my WordPress account. I double and triple checked all account access parameters. Is it possible that my existing Deepest Sender relationship conflicts?

This tool will not work for me. If I needed a tool to connect to a Livejournal or Blogger account, I would research it further.
Is this the most popular blog aid? I’m using it now. It connects flawlessly. (using the same settings that failed in Drivel) It has multiple formatting options and the convenience of integration with Mozilla Firefox.
Complaints
- Error with large post with lots of images. I had to complete the post from WordPress admin.
- No button for the break. I either have to remember the code or adjust in admin.

Usable. However, I want a blog client that works flawlessly with large posts.
Okay, I’m going to post this now and try to reopen it for editing in BloGTK.
I’m back in Deepest Sender. BloGTK installed and connected to my account. I was able to navigate to this post and open it for editing. I was not able to edit it though.
Complaints
- Edit field for existing post is strictly html with no WYSIWYG
- Unable to edit without pasting code back into main window
- Menus were slow to respond and remained open after clicking selection
- Have to open edit accounts to select account for connection
- No easy way to make selected account default
- Cannot select multiple categories
- No button for lists

Very interesting. I can’t wait to try this application on a new post. Has some features absent in deepest sender including the ability to split a post.
Developers, if you put something in the repository, include the start command. I can’t get this thing running. Okay, locate gnome-blog in the terminal leads me to /usr/share/app-install/desktop. The program starts with a preferences dialog window. The user is asked to enter the base url to which /wordpress/xmlrpc.php is appended. There appears to be no way to remove the /wordpress addition and add only /xmlrpc.php It is too automatic. I suppose I could ftp into the server and make a wordpress directory and copy the php file. Maybe later.
This one is easy. Install, add to panel. configure, and click. Minimalistic. Not for me.
Conclusion
Deepest Sender is usable, reliable, and well supported. BloGTK has potential.
